OOC: wanted to stir up something out of the ordinary! "Hello! What's your name?" "Oh, I'm ___. " "Okay, bye." posts are a little boring ._.
Her nose vigorously worked the stump she stood before, searching the marking-post for signs of others, and having found them, trying to determine the who's and why's. Satisfied, she looked up and into the area. It really was a pretty area, plenty of hiding places for game, and comfortable and cozy. Taking a few steps forward, and one tenative step backwards, she wandered forwards into the territory, keeping her guard up, expecting it's claimers to quickly come out of the woodwork.
She had improved her tact from last time, realizing that marching into one's territory was a surefire way to acquire snarling fangs pointed at her throat. Quietly, she waited, and at last, resorted to sitting, idle eyes taking in all there was to see. Unable to sit still, her teeth found themselves aggressively chomping through fur, working out bits of debris, stray clumps of hair, and matted tangles.
Granted, she had only been there for a few minutes, but deciding that with so big of a territory strewn into such long borders, it would be highly improbable that she was discovered immediately. She lifted her head, pausing, trying to think of adequate words to say, and finding none, decided to howl out a greeting of sorts to whomever resided in the territory. "I'm here...", she sang, realizing after the fact that her words sounded more like a statement of arrival, and less like a knock on the door.
Sighing at her incompetence with the correct words, she resumed her fidgeting once more as her back paw found it's way to an irritating bug hovering around her ear.

A... The damp black triangle that was Sob's nose skimmed over the crusted top most layer of now. Canines and her other pearly whites curled ever so slightly toward the back of her mouth. Perfect, for bitting with a relentless grip. The contents of her mouth were only visible because of her parted jaws. Parted so that the air she took in hit the top of her pink pallet and clearly defined each scent. Turning the smells into the sweetest tastes.
Scrumptious...
The pair of warm brown luminaries set forward in her skull were focused on the snow itself. The flicker in their depths intent on keeping track of the light little footprints pressed to the ground. Barely causing a shadow so lightly they were imprinted. Sobriquet's eyes traced each and every crevice that was displayed there. Two slightly conjoined circles topped by a pair of long ovals made up the mark. Sensitive irises picked up what the naked eyes of most could not see.
Taste...
Her hunt was an unambitious one. Hunger was not much of a problem for her at the moment. A mere snack would do, something to keep her hunger at bay. Such as, the hare she was stalking. Nearly everyone of her sense was trained on the challenge of following such a light-footed animal through freshly falling snow. The only one that was not focused was her hearing and even that was limited by the way she had her auditories pressed to her skull. Trying to warm their chilled tips in the sot fur that lay behind her ears. Then, as she rounded around the thick base of a pine, the rather curt howl of an unfamiliar wolf slipped into her concentration. Slitted nostrils flared as she stood bolt upright. Her knee joints locking as she stretched out her neck and ears to more accurately pin point the location of the howler. Sobriquet's sudden movement startled a plump hare from a near by bush. The uneven hopping gait of the off-white rabbit carried the frighten animal across the Alphess' path. Fresh scents of wolf sending the piece of prey skittering quickly to the side.
Similar...
By the time the rabbit had darted away the black expanse of fur that covered the fae's rolling shoulders was already visible several pounds away. Sobriquet's new focus was now on the wolf that had howled such a vague message at her doorstep. Pacing across the snow in long strides, she made it there quickly. Weaving her last few bounds through the tree trunks of an alder grove, she came upon the intruder and prepared to speak words of her own.
To... Holding back her response as her banner curled above her head and declared her status, she judged this stranger quietly. From a single meter away her chocolate toned eyes swept over Anput's form, nose twitching as a light breeze brought smells of the Divisia lands to her. Hackles began to rise at that particular scent, \An embassador sent to beg for hunting rights?/ She speculated, knowing that hunting in those lands was tough, especially at this time of the year. Her distrust of the Divisia people was ever growing. Turning her mind to appearance rather than scent. The silver in the new comers pelt betrayed the age of the Timber wolf mix. The marring on the tail showing the stranger's obvious hardships. At first Sobriquet thought her frail, but then realized that not ancient would be able to make such a journey over her terrain. Tilting her head the slightest degree to the side in a look of amusement, she finally let her question slip forth, "What brings a gray-muzzle such as yourself here?"

Cloud of white sprung from a flurry bursting through the trees as a figure sped towards her, tail held high. Snow took flight from under hurried, deliberate steps, as if each stride a practice in practical perfectionism. Feeling like a deer stuck on the tracks of a hurtling train's headlights, her previously-relaxed joints quickly sprung into action, rocking onto her feet immediately. Preparing for what she thought was a certain collision, she spread her paws and gripped the snow with all her might, bowing her head to protect her neck.
But, no crash came. Instead, the other, probably female by it's size and figure, slowed. Realizing her mistake, she quickly plopped her rear end into the snow once more, and focused her eyes and ears on the other. She would need all the insight she could get if she didn't want to be eaten alive like what almost happened last time. Her eyes took notes, watching every detail, every mannerism, and every facial twitch to silently decipher what kind of wolf this was, and actions this one might perform, whether a kind word, or a lunge of malice to end Anput's life.
A slow smile wrapped itself around the corners of her muzzle. Feeling like she should stand, as the other did, her hind quarters worked much slower this time, and rose to all four feet. Her stub of a tail hung passively. "Hello. Nice land here. By the looks of things, you might be the one in charge?" , she chit-chatted, nodding towards the scenery.
"I've come to see if you require any ...services...." |
, she said slowly, stressing the last word to leave it to the other's imagination. She paused, trying to gather up if this leader, judging by tail position, was interested. "You see, I'm a merchant of sorts.". She paused again, trying to gauge up some kind of indications of whether or not the leader was pleased or interested at all. But as hard as her mind worked, analyzing every detail her eyes and ears could gather, she could not determine much at all. "Food, spices, medicine, goods, pets, ... and any other kind of work that might need to be done.", she summarized. She decided to wait now rather than continuing to babble on foolishly. If need requested, she would expand on what exactly her services and jobs were, but she hoped that she had said enough to find something to do, but not too much that would make this one feel disgusted or repulsed. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480,true][bg=790f1b][atrb=style,text-align:justify; ]Whisps of short auburn fur lifted on the air. It tilted and swerved in the wind, dancing and prancing. Beady black eyes glared through the white landscape. The being was that of a wolf. But the simplicity of her was far off. Her legs were long and thin, and had the most unusual colouring for a wolf to live with. They were a sort of brown with a tinge of red. It came up over her entire body. The underparts of her consisted mostly of light beige colouring, where it blended into the snow and continuously got wet. It was a real pain to be her. Black, wirey fur thickened at the nape of her neck, giving her, her breed. Maned Wolf. Black also hinted on her muzzle and her paws. In a way, she was a real beauty to behold. Her ears stood tall and proud upon her head, and her small paws were laid down with care in each step. Her head lifted when the call of a newcomer came to her ears. Yes, she too was a newcomer. But in all due respect, she had been here longer and had not been found. To her, it was now or never. Fluffing out her tail, and sitting neatly on her rump. She waited.
Flurries of snow exploded into the air as a female came racing down the slope after what looked like some sort of meal that had escaped her grasp when the other wolf let out her annoyingly petiful howl. It was rather rude, to just walk in unannounced and howl out to the world as if you owned the place. But, hey. What did she know, she wasn't allowed here either, and she was here anyway. Settling down more comfortably, she listened to the chatting back and forth. When the notification of a 'merchant of sorts' drifted to her ears, she sniffed disdainfully. She lifted up onto her four paws and bounded over quickly. Letting out a harsh bark, she wrinkled her nose at the other wolf. "Well, if your a merchant, where are your things? I've seen many a merchant and you look like not one of them. Either that, or your a lier, and I don't tolerate those mongrels," the wolf stated with little less than interest.

Their...
Sobriquet continued to judge the stranger even as the stranger judged her. Her luminaries flickered as the other wolf made to stand, moving almost in slow motion. A flicker of concern nearly slipped onto her face at the full sight of the grizzled elder with her stunted banner but the emotion's journey across her feature was quickly cut off once Anput spoke a response. The highly sarcastic wolf couldn't help but let a guttural snort slip from her tightly shut maw at the older wolf's words. \Was she the one in charge here? Well, she would hope her very stance made that obvious./ Sensing that complimenting her home was not the aim of the vixetta's trek up into these frozen lands, she kept her ivory bodice in an inexpressive pose from then on out. Waiting for the stranger to get to the point and aiding the process by simply not responding to anything she had said.
Tickling...
\Medicine? Goods? Merchant?/ Blinking slowly and deliberately, she gave the wolf a once over. \This one had definitely spent too much time with some humans as of late./ Before she had much of a chance to utter a response, she spotted another wolf bounding over. She turned her head the other direction to inspect the second newcomer, flashing the second fae a glimpse of her pearly fangs as a warning to the unannounced intruder. "And you are?" She barked in a bitting tone that showed her annoyance at finding yet more trespassers clearly.
Way...
Without waiting for a response she returned her attention to the first stranger that had come to her attention. Fixing the loner with a level gaze she spoke more evenly, "If you have nothing to show, I am simply not interested. We have lived in this climate for many a generation without the help of outside forces. I would like to know why that should be changed now."
The young alphess was struggling to maintain control of this foreign situation. Welcoming or chasing off potential members she could handle, but dealing with fishy business made the flesh beneath her undercoat crawl. Especially when the instigators were acting so oddly. She did not have a taste for fish. >>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<< words:: a bad three hundred and sixty four words. notes:: Just patted down the dirt on the grave of my muse. I have zero left. It seemed she was not alone, as another female seemed to appear from the shadows. Perhaps also female by it's physique, gait, and frame , it immediately questioned her occupation. Anput let the question sink in for a few moments before opening her mouth to answer, but by that time, the first female had begun to speak. It seemed the two did not know each, and Anput could only feel surprised for the hostility shown towards her. She wanted to bristle at being called a liar and mongrel, but still, she kept her mouth shut and her facial features stern and business like.
Returning her gaze to the leader, Anput only spoke towards her. "Perhaps your leadership would forgive me, with so many different items that one may barter I did not see it a good idea to travel with them all. Herbs especially spoil quickly, I don't like to waste. ", pausing, she continued. "I did not mean to insult you, I am sure you and your pack are indeed quite well. However, if you have any needs I hope that you might keep me in mind. "
She took a quick wistful look behind her, to make sure the path was still clear. It seemed that her presence was certainly not welcome here. Having met only two hostile packs, and two anti-social wolves, she could only wonder what was going on. "Anput. Adeu." , she stated her name and then quickly nodded a goodbye, as it things seemed to be going downhill and it appeared that her potential customer had other things to attend to. Turning as she rose and trotting back the way she had come, she felt contented that she had done what she could and was happy now to leave the uncomfortable situation.
Once past the borderlines, she slowed her trot, keeping a weary eye out for a possible snack. Her thoughts slowly turned to reflection upon the recent events. It seemed that things had not gone well here, and while she doubted that any jobs or trade would come from this pack, she would certainly take any that might come, regardless.
