Pronunciation: dev-ee Gender: Female Age: Almost two, will be two in the spring Breed: Unknown (wide mix of dog breeds have gone into her ancestors, by now her and her family really don't know) Pack: N/A Rank: N/A Mate: (Requiem) Offspring: Puppies on the way, will be created at a later date
Appearance: Devi is, quite simply, stunning. Her coat is a light brown, unvarying in color throughout her body. Her chest is white, and it extends up to her chin and down to her stomach. Her pelt is very short and thick, not lending itself well to holding in warmth. It is silky to the touch, and is nearly irresistible once you've felt it. Her eyes are a rich, unfathomable brown, often tinged with sorrow or a mourning for her brother and for herself. She is a fairly tall dog, but extremely slender and lithe. She doesn't appear muscular, and truly isn't a dog built for fighting. (She really is just stunning. If you don't think so, please don't RP with her, because I built her on the premise she is nearly irresistible.) Personality: Devi is quiet, subdued. She isn't often seen, even if she is near. She is wonderful with deception, for it is the only thing that has kept her alive and almost untouched. Her experiences have left her heart scarred, and the healing back has made is harder to get in. She is cautious, and is slowly becoming a better judge of character, a skill that would have benefited her greatly. She isn't afraid to stick up for herself, but she is no match for males or others more skilled than she. She has no reserves, no special trick to fall on. Despair is an often seen emotion in her eye, even when all she has are her thoughts. Even then, it just makes her beauty haunting, and all the more alluring. Anything she does to get rid of this curse, it doesn't work. Mud just sheds easily from her fur, skinniness leads to pity.
History: Slim, shy, and absolutely stunning. All the things her mother, grandmother, and on up had been. A blessing, in all but their own eyes. They see it as a curse, a thing to be pitied, but the world doesn't see it that way. They are prizes to be acquired, prizes to be won. Or in their cases, cruelly taken. Let's start with her grandmother. Her parents had actually managed to stay together, but Kore managed to block out the quarrels and the new gashes that appeared on her mother overnight. As soon as she could, she got out of there, despite her mother warning her not all dogs would be as good as her father. Good as her father? she had thought bitterly. Any male would be better than her father. But as soon as she came into heat that first time, she was raped and left to die. Only she was born of a sturdy family. She didn't die. Instead, she birthed a litter. The first puppy was a female, and she bitterly called her Touche, now knowing what her mother had meant. Kore could not hide her bitterness from her own pups, so Touche had gotten out as fast as she could. She had lasted a bit longer before she two was raped. She was barely old enough to have puppies, and her own brought great distress. She could barely take care of herself, let alone four tiny puppies. She gave them names, names better than her own. But by the time they were weaned, a boy and a girl had died. All that was left was Devi and her brother, Rocky. Devi lasted longer than her mother and grandmother and all those before her. She had a mother who cared enough to talk to her, to warn her. And a brother who wasn't about to let his little sister get hurt. She was grateful to them, and stayed happily in their protection. But they couldn't be there forever. She had just turned one when she was left by herself. She was feeling a little weird, but she ignored it and stayed out of sight. But he found her. He seemed nice, talked to her, coaxed her out. She began to trust him. A nice dog like him, he wasn't one of the ones her mother was talking about. She was a little nervous when he came closer, but it was only to hear her better. At least until he lunged and grabbed the scruff of her neck before she could blink. And then he raped her. Didn't stop until her brother returned to chase him off. He tried to comfort her, console her, but she didn't move. Couldn't. Even when a human came. Her brother managed to drag her a couple of feet, but his fear was too great and he had to run away. She didn't blame him, because she had just learned a new meaning of fear. She was caught, thrown on a boat because she was too pretty to kill. Because of her timidness, she ate barely anything on the ride over. The other dogs got to it first, and often stole hers if she did manage to get some. She barely stayed alive. And then the freezing water. She barely made it to the beach. And so she was left to die, curled up in a ball. But a male came, and he saved her. He warmed her with his own body and took her to shelter. She was just starting to get healthy when yet another ship came and captured all dogs and wolves they could find. They were kept separate this time, and she was able to pick at her food, eating what little there was. They were released on the island this time, and she wonders just how many times her life will be thrust upside down. |
