Name: Azalea Gender: Female Age: 4 ½ years Breed:: Alexander Archipelago Wolf Pack: Loner; not entirely adverse to being initiated into pack life but typically unimpressed by the thought of team dynamics. Rank: N/A Mate: N/A Offspring: N/A
Appearance: The product of extremes being thrust together and syncing into harmony, Azalea is striking in her immediate appearance – for better or for worse. Densely coated in a thick, heavy pelt, she was predominantly claimed as a "black" wolf by her human counterparts before her relocation to Costiel. In reality, she is flecked with tawny shades, decorated haphazardly with light colors that contrast against her dark fur in patterning – or an arguable lack thereof – that is similar in nature to her typical grey wolf cousins. These light shades further add to the intensely vivid nature of her predatory, ocher eyes, seemingly unnatural in their sentience to those who would discard the thought of a more intellectual canine mind.
Sleek and slender, Azalea is pointedly not as large as many of her counterparts and although experienced readily in physical combat against prey and predator alike, she is left wanting for brute physical strength. This is both a blessing and a curse, her long legs and sleek build lending itself to speed and agility and yet dooming her forever to smaller kills should she continue her solitary lifestyle. Compared against large ears and an eerily expressive muzzle – often looking as if it were grinning in sagely delight or simple mischief – it isn't altogether unexpected that her previous life was one where she was whispered as a spirit or ghost.
Personality: Azalea is a newcomer to Costiel, but was a loner even in origin. She is prone to keeping quiet even in those rare social encounters she might experience, and generally disregards the feelings of those around her if only for a lack of knowing how to appropriately behave. She is sincerely empathetic when given the opportunity, but selfishness comes easily to a wolf who has taken care of herself for as long as she can remember.
Often, her rare encounters are left with her sharing bits of cryptic knowledge based on what she has seen, experienced, and generally been left to muse over for months at a time without interruption. She is incredibly insightful as a result, and deeply in tune with the world around her even if not necessarily in tune with the wolves or people in her presence.
Rarely immediately aggressive, she holds true to the sense that it's the quiet wolf, the stalking wolf, and the wolf you cannot see that is the one to worry most on.
In private or in comfort, she delights in play and has learned to entertain herself in lieu of proper company. The games of pup life, discovery and mischief have never grown old to her, and once her initial barriers are passed by a newcomer to her life, she may seem recreationally immature.
History: And though the mist and the blackness of night dulled my senses I could see her there; the monster who swept through our hearts and our nightmares, ever lurking in ravenous silence amongst those rare azaleas.
"Azalea" took her name from local legends that were roused in her honor in her original home territory. A lone wolf who stalked on the edges of rudimentary human civilization, she was a mark of aggressive superstition and an ever vigilant guard of the careful borders between nature and mankind. Vicious and holding to a disdain for humans bred from the majority of her former pack being killed for fur and for fear, her primary prey consisted of rabbits, young deer, housecats and children – in a sense both metaphorical and literal.
A very recent newcomer to Costiel, Azalea woke from her assumedly drug-induced dormancy on the unfamiliar banks of the Rhomosa River – a humane countermeasure to her reign of terror by means of relocation. She now seeks to learn about her apparent new home.
